Following a similar move by Google and Facebook, Apple Maps now makes it easy to see where you can get vaccinated.
Apple incorporated the functionality into its apps using VaccineFinder, an online tool created by Boston Children’s Hospital. You can simply open Maps and tap on “COVID-19 Vaccines”. You can also ask Siri “where can I get vaccinated against COVID? “
Tap on an eligible location and you will be able to see hours of operation, addresses, phone numbers, and a link you can sign up for. And as before, Apple Maps still includes information about COVID-19 testing locations and changed hours of operation due to lockdowns.
So far, the feature includes 20,000 locations, but Apple says it will add more locations “in the coming weeks.” Although Apple currently relies on VaccineFinder, it notes that vendors can submit their information on its Business Register page.
It’s a small but important gesture – the sooner most of us get vaccinated, the sooner we can abandon this pandemic.
