Welcome to TNW Basics, a collection of tips, guides, and tips on how to get the most out of your gadgets, apps, and more.
I like to watch Netflix on my TV, but if I’m away from home or having a Netlfix night with friends, I have to use my laptop.
At first I thought it was a handy feature, but over time it got annoying as hell. Sometimes I just want to see the description, Netflix.
Fortunately, the company has rolled out a new option that lets you turn off previews, sounds, or both. Here is how you can use this feature:
- Open Netflix on your desktop browser.
- Click on the settings menu in the upper right corner.
- Turn off the toggle for previews, sounds, or both.
Now, if you hover over a title, the teaser does not start playing automatically.
If you turn off the sound, Netflix will play the trailer silently and you can turn the sound on by clicking the speaker button for that title. I find this very convenient because I can choose which trailer I want to watch with the audio turned on.
