Weird Android bug is crashing a host of apps — here’s how to fix it

The reason for this is an unknown bug in the latest update of Android WebView, a component that allows developers to view web pages in their apps. In a statement, Google said it was aware of the issue and was working on a fix:

We are aware of an issue with WebView causing some apps to crash on Android. We are currently working to fully validate the scope and a fix is ​​in progress.

Meanwhile, people on Reddit and Twitter – including Samsung official account – have suggested several ways to make your apps work at this time.

Here is how to fix this problem:

  • Go to Settings> Applications on your Android phone.
  • Search for “Android System WebView”.
  • Tap the three-dot menu in the upper right corner and tap “Uninstall updates.”
