A woman in China was disappointed when she opened the box for her iPhone 12 Pro Max order. Opening the box revealed that the iPhone had been replaced with an apple yogurt drink.
In a video uploaded to Weibo last week, a woman based in China, Liu, explained that she spent more than $ 1,500 to buy the new iPhone 12 Pro Max. The woman claims to have purchased the iPhone through Apple’s official website, and not through a third-party reseller. Opening the box shocked her because someone had traded the iPhone for a yogurt drink.
Liu explained that she did not receive the package directly, but opted for delivery to her parcel locker at her residence. This is where it gets interesting as official mail – Express Mail Service – and both Apple claims to have delivered an iPhone. But Liu says she didn’t receive it. The case was registered with the local police, and the case was deemed a theft, but no one knows when the exchange took place.
Global Times has since reported that the express courier has hired special people to handle the case, and the investigation is still ongoing. Apple also gave a similar response to the Global Times investigation, saying a formal investigation was in place and the matter would be resolved soon.
Due to the natural perception of Apple devices as premium (and therefore expensive), cases of theft of Apple devices are increasing day by day. At the end of last year, Amazon employees were arrested for stealing half a million dollars from iPhones. A pair of moms and sons were also arrested last year for trading fake iPhones in the Apple Store.
